2/15/2023 0 Comments Cleaning Window TracksThis is a forgotten part of the window yet they are one of the most important moving parts of the window or sliding glass door. The runners and small wheels that help your window slide are hidden at the bas of the sliding panel. These wheels is what runs through your tracks and if you tracks are dirty with dust dirt and muck they jam up and make the window hard to open or can jump along the track. see below and example of the runner in your window  The other reason for cleaning tracks is that most windows have what is called Weep Holes. Strange name but an important job. They are there to let any water out of the window frame otherwise the window tracks will fill up and overflow inside your home. These are blocked in most cases when the tracks are dirty.  How to clean tracks?
We offer Brushing and Vacuuming Window and Door Tracks as one of our services by our Eco Conscious Team. and this is exactly what we do. We use a track Brush from Bunnings and it the best on the market (trust me we have tried them all ) and a very powerful vacuum cleaner. First brush the tracks with the track brush backwards and forwards applying some firm pressure and then follow it with the vacuum cleaner and repeat. As simple as that. You have new windows or sliding doors being installed. Whether it be construction or a renovation the installation of the windows or sliding doors is an exciting day as you are very close to the finish. Normally there is still of trades to complete their work like - plasterers - painters - concreters These are the most dangerous trades that can and it most cases do cause damage to the new glass that is freshly installed. Have a real hard think whether you would like concrete splattered all over the windows and in some cases you will need to replace the glass due damage. So what can I do? Here are some things you can do to help keep your glass in new condition. - Immediately cover them with a plastic sheet, using a non marking tape to secure it around the frame. This is our highly recommended procedure - Use a special film that offers a second skin to the glass , warning dont leave it on to long as the glue will adhere and stain the glass. - Remove the factory stickers ASAP, if they are left on for an extended period of time it can stain the glass Who should clean the glass? We recommend spending the extra money on professional window cleaners and not builders cleaners to complete the work as they will have the right tools and the tricks to clean them properly.
